Cool Milk link
Although water is always available, many children, especially the younger ones, at St Loys have milk as their drink at morning break. The company ‘Cool Milk’ regularly delivers milk to our school under a Local Authority approved scheme.
Every child under the age of five is entitled to a free 189ml serving of milk whilst in attendance at school and school milk may be free to children receiving, or entitled to, free school meals.
School milk is subsidised for all other children over five in primary education and usually costs around £15 a term.
If you would like your child to receive milk at school please register them online at https://www.coolmilk.com/register
Free Fruit Scheme:
The National School Fruit Scheme is part of the Healthy Schools Programme, led jointly by the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Health.
If your child is aged four to six and attends a fully state-funded infant, primary or special school, they are entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. This provides one of their 5 A DAY portions, and the scheme also helps to increase awareness of the importance of eating fruit and vegetables, encouraging healthy eating habits that can be carried into later life.
The fruit and vegetables are delivered to schools three times a week to ensure freshness. The choice includes: bananas, apples, pears, carrots, tomatoes and easy-peel citrus fruits, such as satsuma.
